Mercur, Utah

Near Eagle Mountain, Utah - Visited 3/2/2018

General Overview

Mercur, Utah is a ghost town located about 40-45 minutes west of Lehi, Utah. It sits up in the mountains. There is a gate along the canyon road that is closed permanently. I did not go past the gate, but many people claim there isn't any thing up there anymore. There are mines all over the area if you know where to look.

What To Do

Because Mercur was an old mining town, there are plenty of mines nearby in the surrounding areas if you know where to look. When I went, I found 2 mines located right next to each other. The coordinates I provided for the location of the mines are not exact. It was a while ago, but based on some old video I had, I was able to pinpoint roughly where I was. I know that if you are in the right area, you cannot miss it.

There is also a cemetery located at the base of the canyon that is worth checking out if you are in the area.

Other Things To Note

If you choose to explore the mines I listed, I'd recommend bringing some sort of rope or repelling gear. One is rather steep and the use of a rope to help pull yourself back up and out would be very beneficial.

Final Thoughts

This is an awesome place to go looking for abandoned mines. If you find the mines I included, perhaps send me some more accurate coordinates. If you find more mines, I'd like to document and catalog those coordinates as well.
